BLOGGING: My Reflection & The Future
This is technically my last “required” blog for my MEJO 577 class, The Branding of Me. I put the word “required” in quotation marks because it honestly has not felt like a requirement, nor have I treated it like one. I really enjoy writing about things that I care about or that interest me, so when I first received this assignment, I assumed it would be fun. However, I enjoyed it way more than I thought. Here’s what has come out of blogging and where the future of my blog will go…
Why I have loved blogging...
It honestly has been a great method of self-reflection. Personally, I have always been someone who likes to make things permanent. What I mean by that is I treasure physical objects and writings as a way of documenting one’s interests or experiences. This is why I take endless pictures in life or have trouble cleaning out my own belongings. When people die and time moves on, how do you remember their legacy? Memories and stories are great, but also easily forgotten, especially when it comes to the smaller, special moments. In order to keep such memories from being truly lost in the continuum of time, attaching a photo, writing, diary, or physical object to a legacy is so important. It has been nice getting thoughts in my head into writing and making them “permanent,” so that I will have some sort of legacy, even if it’s just me complaining about why sports tickets should never go paperless. (Now that I think about it, the main idea of that blog very much reflects the sentiment I am expressing now.)
Extra creative opportunities…
One of my other absolute favorite things about writing blogs has been the thumbnails that I have created for each of my blogs. Not only do I love how it makes my blogs seem unified, but each week, I stare at a blank canvas (literally) and think of how I can make the subject of my blog into a catchy picture. It has allowed me to combine my love of color, art, and design with my love for writing! (Also, if you were ever wondering, the typeface that I use for my blogs is American Typewriter. I thought it was naturally fitting, and it represents the sincere authenticity of my blogs.)
There’s so much more to explore…
I can’t believe I hit Blog #22 so quickly! I still have a looooong list of topics in my notes that I was planning on writing a blog about, including (deep breath)... road trips, photography, meditation, anxiety, being observant, new hobbies, painting, sports memorabilia, video game collections, pasta, Goldsboro, art museums, the French language, must-watch movies, being an ambivert, Peanuts characters, my dog, and MORE. Not all of those topics might have context for you at the moment, but if I blog about them, they will!
The plan...
For the reasons explained prior, I have decided that my blogging journey will not end here. It is something I will definitely continue in my life. However, there are two things that I can tell you for sure. First, I will be taking a break. Just until the end of my senior year... things just keep getting busier, and if I know myself, there is no way you are getting a blog out of me in the next three weeks - lol. Secondly, when I do resume my blogging adventures, I really do not know how often I will blog. Over this semester, it has been twice a week, but in the future, it will probably be when I feel the writing juices flowing within me… and I honestly do not know how often that will be until I wait and see! However, with those two things being said, the blogging does not stop here, and until my next one, you can explore my website and get to know me better through my work!
